On a spring evening, Polis was born from the idea of young university students. In the following days, the first group of girls, boys, and professors came together to animate the social hub, united by the desire to create a new space where people and ideas can meet and engage in dialogue. In September 2024, the association was presented to the public as part of "Festival della Politica di Mestre", and since then the first official membership registration has opened. The essence of our commitment lies in the possibility of creating an innovative and creative social hub where one can think, study, and build beyond what exists — an incubator of ideas and connections from which to interpret and challenge reality.

Mission

Our primary goal is to create a space where the complementarity of talents and skills helps to orient oneself in the complexity of the great technological, social, cultural and environmental challenges of our time.

Polis activities take place in the unique and fascinating setting of Venice: we therefore try to combine the study and analysis of macro-phenomena with specific focus on the Venetian context.

Our mission is divided into three fundamental points: 

We connect different talents by creating an ecosystem where you can find guidance or inspiration, share ideas and projects, learn about the stories and successes of others. We want to create a space where the complementarity of talents helps us to orient in the complexity of the current challenges.

We explore crucial issues of our time from the perspective that Venice offers as an opportunity to combine the study of large phenomena and their effect on the urban, social and environmental context of the lagoon city.

Aware of the progressive crumbling of the city's social fabric, we are committed to bring together local and non-local realities and actors, with the intent of safeguarding marginal spaces, both human and urban.

Our Team

Our team is made up of young bachelor's or master's degree students, professors, politicians, professionals, representatives of associations and institutions. Within Polis we are all volunteers, in line with the non-profit nature of our reality.

Above all, we share the desire to bring together and enhance different talents in the belief that "the whole is greater than the sum of its parts" and that the complexity of the present must be addressed through the meeting of complementary knowledge and collaboration between universities, policymakers and citizens.

Polis' activity is structurally open to dialogue and collaboration with urban realities. We firmly believe that the contamination between experiences, professional activities and different stories can become an enriching and generative element for the community.
